  • Close-in-age exception: A person 23 years of age or younger may engage in legal sexual activity with a minor aged 16 or 17.

The minimum age of marriage is 16.
  • If the person getting married is a minor (16 or 17), he/she must be accompanied by one of his/her parents or legal guardian and have written parental consent.
  • The only exception for minors younger than 16 is if they are the parents or expected parents of a child.
